Girls Camp

The first day of girls camp began with lots of rain. Luckily it stopped just as we arrived in Logan canyon for our "hike". It was really more like a walk, but it was really pretty. My older sister Emily agreed to come up and help me with the main focus of girls camp. She came and spent the day with us as "Rose" my mentally handicapped sister. She did a phenomenal job! None of the girls knew. It was interesting and hard, to sit back and see who stepped up and befriended her and who ignored or made fun of her.
These were the girls who befriended her first. Savanah, Maddie, & ShainaI chose to put my young women through this experience because I went through the same thing when my sister and I were in young women's. It changed my life!I think it made a big impact on some of the girls, and it was a great reminder to me as well.

The next morning began early with a workout! My assistant Heidi Terry did a great job coming up with a workout for all of us to do.She made the girls do wall sits! The girls who lasted the longest make it 7 min!!!The winners of the wall sit got to choose what three of us leaders had to do. They chose a lethal combination of ladders, sit ups, and push ups.We had so many games, activities, crafts and projects, but one of the girl's favorite things was the MARSHMALLOW WAR! We all painted our faces and then played steal the flag with marshmallow guns. That was all the girls wanted to do for hours. It was SO MUCH FUN! I couldn't have done it without the other WONDERFULL LEADERS. Especially my right and left hand ladies Heidi Terry and Dana Griffin.
