McCall's blessing dress

My mother in law (Kris) made McCall's blessing dress (and let me help). She was really patient with my NON SEWING skills. It was a lot of fun and the dress turned out prettier than I had imagined!
The finished product. So beautiful!

I used the same pattern for both of the girls dresses (but Kailey's was out of eyelet material and had pink ribbon threaded through it), but I just noticed that it is a McCall's pattern. Coincidence? I think not.
(more pictures of the actual blessing day to come)

Christmas 2008!

Christmas started at about 9:00am at our house. As always I was the most excited. Kailey and McCall had no idea what was going on...and I knew the awesome things everyone would be getting.
Troy's parents came to our house and gave Troy (and the girls) this sled.Grandma Parkin and the girls
Later, we drove to Mendon to see my side of the family. Kailey always loves to see her cousins. Here is a rare moment when they are sitting quietly (Kailey, Lydia, Daniel, Russell, and my sister Amber).
Kailey and LydiaKailey wanted to play Nintendo with her cousins (James and Steve)...little does she know it isn't plugged in.She really thought she was playing. Not bad for never even seeing Nintendo before.McCall kept busy posing for the camera with her cousin Jade in their Christmas outfits.
I wish I could figure out how to put our movies on this blog, because I got some great shots of all the snow we got. We got snowed in and had to spend the night at my parents house (so did my sister and her family). My younger brother was kind enough to give us his room and he slept on the couch. The next day we relaxed, ate way too much junk food, played on the sit and spin, ... Hung out with the cousins (Lydia and McCall)...

and went sledding in all of that beautiful SNOW!

What a great Christmas!

Parkin Christmas Party

We spent Christmas Eve at the Parkin's. Each year we give "Dollar" gifts to everyone, instead of drawing names and giving a big gift. You can make your gifts with something you already have or you can buy them...but you can't spend more than $1. You have to get pretty creative. It was a lot of fun to see what everyone came up with. My favorite part was seeing McCall in her Mrs. Clause outfit. No wonder Santa is so jolly with a cute girl like her on his arm.
This is McCall and her adorable cousin Cody (Troy's brother's son)This is Troy's sister Tonya and her little boy Jeff. Then me and McCall of course. Some of Kailey's favorite gifts were her Pom Poms...and of course her green faux fur purse and her two two (sp?)She played with her new toys but had just as much fun taking the wrapping paper to the trash...

This is her dusting off her hands on the way back from the garbage...she made at least 6 trips!

We had a great time and can't wait for next year!

Brandley Family Christmas Party

It is always so fun to see family for Christmas. Kailey loved playing with all of the kids...but her favorite was Uncle Matt (my youngest brother). Grandma and Grandpa Brandley (my Mom and Dad) had lots of smiles for McCall...and she had lots for them!We all eat dinner and then we have a Program. My dad has 10 brothers and each family tries to do something for the program. One of my favorites is my Uncle Jared. Every year since I can remember he has recited "How the Grinch Stole Christmas". He is an actor at heart and quite the performer. It is always the kids favorite part except for...the NATIVITY!!! As traditions goes the couple with the youngest baby gets to be Marry and Joseph...well Troy and I missed it by a week. My cousin and his wife had their baby a week after we had McCall. LOL! Oh, well at least Kailey and I got to be ANGELS.My nephews James, Daniel, and Russell (who didn't want to be a wise man)This is Russell as a "Spaceship"!My oldest sister Amber and her husband Ryan putting on their costumes.Kailey and her cousin Lydia as Angels.Aunt Heidi (my youngest sister) helped me with these two until it was our turn to go on stage (did I mention that there are so many people at the party that we have to have it at a stake center). Here is Kailey waving as she screams "DADA!"

A break for McCall and Mommy.

Troy took Kailey for a walk around the block and then they played in the snow while...

McCall and I got some rest (well, she got some rest and I took down my Christmas decorations)
